Men’s Ministry

Mission: To develop men of Christian character, to encourage and provide opportunities for men to apply their skills and talents, and to use Godly men as a witness and encouragement to others.

Activities: The Men’s Ministry hosts fellowship breakfasts, social outings, church cleanups, and an annual Men’s Weekend in the summer.

History: The Men’s Ministry has its roots in the Men’s Club, which was organized on March 4, 1910. Brothers made themselves available for the care of the church grounds and for other odd jobs that required attention. It grew into a fellowship manned by church leaders and laymen alike. Many years later, Rev. Jerry C. Cheatham Jr. formed a men’s ministry during the pastorate of Rev. Dr. Derrick Harkins. Trustee Charles Hall presided over the ministry during the adoption of its mission. Deacon Howard Smith unified the Men’s Club and The Men’s Ministry.

Opportunities: Almost every major event and any time during the High Holy Days present the men with opportunities to serve the church. For additional information, contact Men’s Ministry Chair and Deacon Mario Ashby.
