Scholarship Committee
Purpose
The Scholarship Committee oversees the annual scholarship application process for Nineteenth Street Baptist Church and ensures the timely and fair disposition of scholarship funds.
Committee Membership
The Scholarship Committee is composed of members representing several ministries of the church. Deaconess E. Louise White is the current chair.
Responsibilities
- Solicit and coordinate the application, delivery, and selection process for the scholarship.
- Review each candidate’s application, ensuring adherence to the rules and requirements.
- Select scholarship recipient(s) and make a personal presentation of the award.
- Announce and publicize the scholarship recipients to the church membership.
- Follow up with scholarship recipients to make sure scholarship funds were received.
Scholarship Criteria (mandatory requirement). All applicants:
- Must be a current member of Nineteenth Street Baptist Church for at least one calendar year.
- Must be enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited vocational school, college, or university as a full-time student with a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester of the current academic year. There may be exceptions for graduating seniors who have less than the minimum of 12 credit hours.
- Must submit fall enrollment verification.
- Must submit a written response to essay questions on the application form.
- Must submit a current headshot photo.
The Application:
There is one application form, Collegiate Programs Application, for our college students to apply for a scholarship (the Ettyce Hill Moore Church Scholarship and the Geraldine LM Tate & Edward Beasley Book Award or the MLK Scholarship Award) and the Love Pal Program. The MLK Scholarship is for students attending Morehouse College.
Simply check off which program(s) you are applying for. Your participation in the scholarship program will require you to meet the application requirements and complete the Collegiate Programs Application each school year. It is important that you provide all the information requested no later than the application deadline date.
You can complete and submit your full application online by clicking the
Google Forms link to access the Google Forms document. The document allows you to upload your essay questions, verification of enrollment, and headshot photo. Simply click
submit at the end and your application is automatically sent to
Applications@19thstreetbc.org. You must have a Google account to use this method. You will also be provided with a copy of your submitted application.
If you do not have a Google account, simply download the application, complete the form and submit it and all required attachments to Applications@19thstreetbc.org.
The 2026-2027 Collegiate Programs Application will be posted in June. Please submit the completed agreement and application form to Applications@19thstreetbc.org by the due date, July 16, 2026.
