Women’s Ministry

ARTICLE I: Name
The Women’s Ministry shall be known as “Sisters of the YAM: You Are Mine!” (Isaiah 43: 1-7)


ARTICLE II: Purpose
The purpose of the Nineteenth Street Baptist Church Women’s Ministry shall be to:


  1. Provide an organized ministry to encourage service, fellowship, and spiritual growth among women of all ages within the church family.
  2. Inspire women in the church to be empowered through a personal knowledge of Christ (discipleship) and to be committed to extending His Kingdom in their lives, homes, church, and communities, and throughout the world (evangelism).


Supporting Scriptures: Planning and building bridges as well as seeing our vision through each other’s eyes.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11, NIV)


“And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into His image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” (2 Corinthians 3:18, NIV)


Core Value: The Women’s Ministry seeks to improve church membership through ministry engagement in accordance with the church’s Core Values, established by the pastor and the congregation.


Strategic Goals: 

  • Encourage participation in the Women’s Ministry of all women in the church
  • Inspire spiritual formation through Bible study, seminars, retreats, and group discussions
  • Foster intergenerational partnering, mentoring
  • Assist small-group development building community through personal relationships
  • Partner with other ministries specific to the uplift with other women


ARTICLE III: Membership of the Ministry
An open invitation will be extended to all women who are:


  • Church members
  • Students (College age women/students under “Watch Care”)
  • Interns (Trainees for Christian Education/ Ministry and Youth Ministry)
